CEMETERY COMMITTEE


Minutes of the meeting of the Cemetery Committee held at 7.00pm on Tuesday 20 April 2004 at The Cemetery. Councillor Fisk, Chairman, presided over Councillor Abel, Auger, Blades and the clerk. No members of the public were present.

001 APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE – None


002 DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST – None.


003 MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING


It was proposed by Cllr Fisk and seconded by Cllr Auger that the minutes of the meeting held on 13 December 2003 be adopted. These were duly signed by the Chairman.


004 BURIAL, HEADSTONE AND CEMETERY REGULATIONS


The Clerk reported that she had not been able to make any further progress at this stage. Cllr Blades volunteered to undertake a study and report back at the next meeting.


005 BUDGET REVIEW


It was proposed, seconded and unanimously agreed to include the purchase of an additional compostor using the budget allocation for equipment. This is to be situated next to the bins to encourage its use.


006 BURIAL GROUND EXTENSION


It was noted that the old play equipment had now been removed, although the new equipment was not yet in place. The Clerk reported that planning form and other related documents were due to be submitted when the final drawings were received by the surveyor.

    007 INSPECTION OF HEADSTONES AND SURROUNDING AREA


Due to the recent work on headstones, it was not felt necessary to undertake an inspection. However the Clerk was requested to contact the contractors to ensure there would be a review in 2005.


It was noted that the tap was still not replaced and the Clerk was requested to contact the contractor.


It was noted to the satisfaction of the Committee that the new maintenance worker had already been at work in the Cemetery.



008 DATE OF NEXT MEETING –Thursday, 17 June 2004 in the Cemetery.


There being no further business, the meeting was closed at 7.40 pm.
