015 REQUEST FOR TRAFFIC CALMING ON EASTGATE

The Committee considered a request for traffic calming on Eastgate. Although the Committee were sympathetic to problems caused by speeding, it was recognised that several areas within Deeping St James were also affected and that it would not be possible to introduce it in all of these places. However it was proposed seconded and agreed that the area should have consideration when the Road Safety Campaign takes place.

016 ARRANGEMENTS FOR UPDATED ROAD SAFETY CAMPAIGN

It was proposed, seconded and agreed that the Clerk should request the loan of special road safety signs, including one which indicates speed and investigate the costings of cycle paths. It was agreed the summer months would be preferable for the campaign but it was recognised that this would depend on when the equipment can be loaned. The Clerk was also requested to make enquiries regarding the window stickers, promoting the campaign.

017 LOCAL BUS SERVICE

It was proposed, seconded and agreed that the Clerk should write to Stagecoach expressing disappointment in the increase in fares and that the changes to the fares were not given more publicity with the new timetable. The Clerk was also asked to express the Council’s hope that discount passes for retired people would still honoured.
