BUS SHELTERS COMMITTEE
Minutes of a meeting of the Bus Shelters Committee held at 7.30pm on Tuesday, 27 November 2001 in The Institute.
014 MEMBERS PRESENT were Councillor Lewis, Chair, Councillor Chambers and the clerk. There were no members of the public present.
015 APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE were received from Councillors Dilks and Warrick.
016 MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING
It was confirmed that the minutes of the meeting held on 16 October 2001 were adopted at the full Council meeting held on 25 October 2001 and therefore taken as read.

Responses to the outstanding issues raised with the short-listed suppliers were considered and are tabulated below:

The clerk confirmed that permission to erect at the various locations had been received from LCC’s Highways Department and that she was in the process of obtaining information from the five utility companies concerning nearby services, pipes and cables. Quotes for the bases, which would be different for each location, were still outstanding but it was agreed to allow a budget of £2,000 towards this. The clerk was instructed to obtain quotes from S. McCabe, H Thompson and T. Robinson.
The Welland & Deepings Internal Draining Board has raised concerns regarding the Broadgate Lane shelters, as there is a culverted dyke at this location. Permission to erect will only be given on the basis that a written undertaking is given to the Board that the Council removes the shelters and bases, at its own expense, should the Board need access to the pipe. The Committee recommends that this is given, as the likelihood of access being needed is remote. The Board is also concerned that the pipe may be interfered with during installation and recommends that the shelter requiring the least depth be selected.
Having considered the specifications, prices and the advice from the Welland & Deepings Internal Drainage Board, the Committee agreed to recommend that:
020 PROVISION OF BUS STOPS AND TIMETABLE/ROUTE INFORMATION
It was noted that Delaine Buses Ltd had requested a meeting with the committee; this will be arranged. Stagecoach Peterborough will conduct an internal survey and write to the Council in due course. No response has been received from Shaw’s Coaches.
